A Quiet Week-end

Sunday, March 25th, 2012

Not much to report. It was a nice day yesterday which I seem to have spent on the computer doing SDA work and also did 3 loads of laundry. Then I got hit with the seasonal allergy head-ache. I went to bed with it and woke up with it. I am doing all the usual things to combat it and I do feel better tonight.

I went to church this morning and this afternoon, Mr C and I went to the mall. I hate the mall on the week-ends, but decided to keep him company. I realize I need a change of clothes for our trip next week. I found a pair of skinny leg jeans that look pretty good and feel great. I also got a big chartreuse knit top to cover my big butt!!

No baby, yet. I am sure it can’t be much longer.

Here is today’s 3 x3; yesterday is at the top. I had fun using some of my prints.

A Beauteous Day

Thursday, January 26th, 2012

I had to get up early this morning to walk Scooter since Mr C spent the night in Corvallis where he has been for 3 days starting his new consulting gig. It was a beautiful morning and the birds were singing. I took this photo which was an omen of the beautiful day to come.

Later, when I was washing dished in the kitchen, facing SW, the sun was so bright, I felt as if I needed sun glasses!! However, when I took Scooter out again, just before lunch, this was the scene to the south.

The clouds looked menacing, but  dissipated. At 4:30 pm, when I took Scooter out, there was a beautiful sunset from the Rhodie Garden.

Mr C arrived home, just as we walked back to the house. Scooter was very happy to see his other person. He kept running back and forth between us!

I can’t believe that I am running out of days for red 3 X 3s. Today’s is up at the top and here is yesterday’s-

I am trying to decide if I want to work my way around the color wheel or mix it up and do a random choice or go across the color wheel to the complement. I am feeling like I would like to go to the cool side for awhile.

Happily, the cold I thought I was getting did not materialize. I saw my dermatologist yesterday for a check-up. I had to have a suspicious mole on my upper chest biopsied. It was a tiny little thing. I hope it is negative. Then, I went to Kaiser Vision Center and ordered some cool red glasses. I have missed having red glasses! Today, I got the color on my hair refreshed. I am looking good!

Monday Mash UP

Monday, January 9th, 2012

Today was a mixed bag for me. I had a meeting at Trinity at 12:30 which means getting my rear in gear and walking the dog early so that I can eat lunch early and then hit the road. Just before I left, the mail arrived with bad news. Allstate canceled our homeowner’s insurance because of the two thefts last year. Argh!! Mr C got on the phone and started tracking down some other insurance with no good results — we are damaged goods!

While I was at my meeting, he went over to our Wells Fargo Office. They hold our mortgage. A very nice employee did some research and found a company that may do business with us. This just makes me so furious. I hate that this saga seems to have no end.

Anyway, the meeting was great. I am part of the three amigos who are coordinating the annual Artists Among Us Fine Art Show and Sale at Trinity which happens in May. I am doing all of the computer work. Our resident graphic artist did a fabulous poster for us. We met with all of our other committee chairs and we are on the way to a successful event.

On the way home, I stopped at Office Depot to pick up some sheet protectors and a new binder for a class I am taking. (More about that later.) While there, I checked out their storage items. I found something that is perfect for my paints, inks and other printing supplies. I brought it home and after giving up on the instructions, which were drawings, I used my intuition and got it assembled.

The bins can be pulled out and taken to my print table, plus, I can easily see what is in the bins.

Oh and the 3 x 3 for today is fused and stitched.

This and That

Sunday, January 8th, 2012

Here is today’s 3 X 3. This was needle felted, by hand. Am I going to get sick and tired of red. We shall see. I will certainly continue to discover all the ways that I can design a small piece of art. I want it to be fun and no stress.

We were awakened between 4 and 5 this morning by Scooter barking. As you can imagine, I felt like I had been punched in the stomach. It was one year ago this week-end that we had our first burglary. There was no intruder. Scooter had pooped in his bed. We let him stay upstairs on his bed in the family room. When we got up, he had pooped in the living room. Steve took him out for a walk and he did another gigantic poop. We wondered what was going on because he had normal movements for the last few days.

Then, I remembered the box of dog bone biscuits we bought at Costco. They are pretty big biscuits — bigger than we usually get him. Mr C had left them on the floor of my office. Last night when I was down there, he didn’t seem to want to come back upstairs. I thought I should put the biscuits up, where he couldn’t reach them. It turns out, it was like shutting the barn door after the horse got out! There are 40 biscuits to a layer and there were only 10 left when Steve counted them. We have had a big laugh about it all day. Fortunately, he did not get really sick, just felt lethargic all day.

We are looking forward to the return of Downton Abbey on PBS tonight – how about you? Our young priest even used the show in his sermon this morning!

In the Red

Thursday, January 5th, 2012

Actually, I am also in the pink. I am having fun pulling out all my red fabrics and scraps to create with. Making a 3 inch square composition is a bit of a challenge. I find myself thinking about it during the day. This one was inspired by some pre-cut and fused scraps that I had in a bag of goodies. It is yesterdays 3 x 3.

Today’s, 3 x 3 is made from red silk organza and silk organza scraps that have been painted. I did some handstitching.

I have not done nearly as much new year organization in my studio as I had planned for this week. I have had a few distractions. I am coordinating an exhibit of June Underwood’s paintings at Trinity. Yesterday, we hung the show. Here is a peek.

Tomorrow night is the opening reception and I am doing the food and wine for that. So, Mr C and I made a trip to Costco today to pick up some goodies. If you are in the area, I hope you will come by.

This morning, I had a check in with my Dr. I am happy to report that my blood pressure was normal and I do not have to go back for 4 months. I get so stressed about having by BP checked, that I am always sure that it will be high so it was a relief.

I found this box of bee’s wax crayons when I was Christmas shopping. I am thinking they might be fun to experiment with on fabric.

I am watching Project Runway: All Stars. What fun to see all the divas back in the workshop together.
