Mindless Studio Time

Tuesday, October 25th, 2011

Today was spent getting my studio back in order after a month of projects. It always feels good to put every thing in its place and find the surfaces of my work areas.

I washed the fabrics for my niece, Gwen’s, quilt and ironed them and started cutting tonight. I am going to do a disappearing nine patch. It should move along quite quickly once I get my 5 inch squares cut.

Once in a while, I like to do pieced patchwork quilts. I find it very meditative to cut and stitch and press and do it all over again.

I think I am too excited about going to Houston next week to start anything that needs my brain. If you will be at IQF, I hope you will stop by to say hello. Here is your official invitation:

California Poppies

Monday, October 24th, 2011

I added some frilly leaves and  finished the quilting on this piece. I took the photo several different places and with different lighting. I am not happy with the  camera I bought to replace the last stolen one. I need to save some money and get a better one.

Anyway I am happy with this. I did the Sue Benner satin stitch edging.

It was a beautiful fall day — sunny and brisk. I took two walks with Scooter. He loves the cooler weather with his nice warm coat.

I have spent a good part of today on the computer doing SDA work. When I finish this, I will watch DWTS and get back to database work.

A Night in the ER

Sunday, October 16th, 2011

I did not have a virus. By last night, I realized that my left arm was swollen and red and my temp was going up and up, no matter what I did. I had a recurrence of cellulitis in my lymphedema arm. I have had this problem off and on since my first breast cancer when I had lymph nodes removed from that arm.

It has been a while since I had a problem. I am not sure what caused it this time. I do know that it is nothing to mess with. I need to get antibiotics asap.

I got to the ER at 8:30. The ER on a Saturday night is a surreal place. I was low priority so it was 9:30 before I got into a room. They decided to do an IV infusion of antibiotics. I felt better and the redness was abating by the time I arrived home at 1:30 am.

I still feel as if a truck has run over me and have a high fever. I hope to be up to speed tomorrow for my interview with Pat Sloan. Click on the link in my sidebar to listen in or if you miss it live, you can catch me later. I am the second guest.

Kristin Freeman!  I need your snail mail. Diane will mail you the DVD later this month when she receives them from Interweave.

Thank you to the 65 of you who left a comment! You still have a chance by hopping on over to one of the other participating blogs.

On another note, today is my birthday. It will be very low key. Mr C took me to Toast for breakfast. Now, I am going back to quilting and burying threads.

I am also getting ready for my radio gig on Pat Sloan’s American Patchwork & Quilting Radio Show next Monday. I will be representing the Twelve x Twelve group and hoping I don’t embarrass them. Here is a link to listen in.

SAQA Auction Purchase

Thursday, September 22nd, 2011

I am so happy that my Klee’s Castle was purchased for the Teri D. Springer Quilt Collection for $350.

I finished attaching Twelve X Twelve quilts to the felt panels today. I had to use safety pins for the last few. Quilt basting guns and I don’t get along very well!!

Tomorrow, Terry and I will package them up and send them off to Houston and then celebrate.
