My Diploma

Sunday, February 28th, 2010

Just thought I would post this extra large diploma, worthy of framing, that I received today after my four years of study. We had a lovely time reflecting on the four years of study. The mentor described me as being a quiet presence. I laughed because I think that may be the first time any one has said that about me. She said it was because Mr C had so much to say. He is, after all, the official theologian of this family. I just tag along for the fun of it.

She also remarked about my doodles and wondered if I was designing quilts. I was and also drawing portraits of her. I think I will find all of them and give them to her as a gift.

Everyone seemed to love their bookmarks. I was happy about that.

Don’t forget – Twelve X Twelve reveal is tomorrow.

Sneak Peeks

Friday, February 19th, 2010

I am almost finished with the blue, white and a bit of black challenge for the Twelve X Twelve Blog. Of course, I am using indigo scraps!!

Reveal is on March 1. I am so ahead of myself, I can’t stand it.

I remember now why I am not going for deep thoughts this year. My focus word is Bliss, and it seems to be working. I wanted to do work that made me happy. Not quite two months in, I am feeling quite giddy and blissful.

The trip to Hawaii and the Portland winter weather this year have helped immensely with my happy mood. It was another spectacular and sunny day and it seems it will be here through the week-end.

Tomorrow, we are going to a 65th birthday party for a friend. I am looking forward to an afternoon of fun with good friends.

I hope your week-end is sunny and blissful.

Gasp; I’m Coming Up for Air

Tuesday, February 9th, 2010

I was honored to have been invited to become one of the first members of this new presence on the web. Click on the logo and go on over to the new site developed by Rachel Biel. Her other blog is Fiber Focus.

While gathering information to be posted on the blog, I found out how to make a slide show from a Flickr set. But, I don’t know how to embed it in a blog post. One thing at a time!!

I have had to check things off a list today, but I forgot to put mail the racism block to Maria in Alaska on my list. I will do that tomorrow. I had to write the president’s letter for the guild newsletter. I spent an hour this morning doing work on the SDA website. I had to write my sidebar article on the Thermofax for the Twelve X Twelve book. I had to select some images for the post card for the Artist’s Among Us show and sale at Trinity where I will be the featured artist. That is in May and I need to get some new work done. Tonight, I had arts committee meeting at Trinity, but I didn’t have to cook as all the commission members have a meal together before our meetings. Nice!!

After I got home from the meeting, I did an outline for a talk that I am giving tomorrow night for a group at Trinity who are working through Julia Cameron’s, The Artist’s Way. I am talking about “Unleashing the Inner Artist at Any Age.”

So, I have now caught my breath. I’m watching The Daily Show and then off to sleep perchance to dream…

Multi-Tasking

Tuesday, January 5th, 2010

AsĀ  I have mentioned, I have a plethora of things to get done in the next few weeks. Today, I felt like Maxine and her computer. I spent most of the day at the keyboard. I was sending out e-mails to guild members and typing up the guild website edits for the web-mistress. I spent most of the morning working on my chapter for the Twelve x Twelve book. It was more fun filling in details and editing it once the rough draft was done.

I spent some of my afternoon in the studio working on Green Flash. I am happy to announce that all that glitz is gone or covered up and I have it squared up. I trimmed off the satin stitch binding. I think I need to rip out some of the quilting lines and then I can do the final quilting and edging. Here is how it looks today. Just another wonky Gericon quilt!!

Peace and Quiet

Monday, December 28th, 2009

I am enjoying a few days with nothing I have to do. Much of my time in the last couple of days has been spent writing a rough draft of my chapter for the Twelve X Twelve book. It is about my chair piece which has several different surface design techniques. I finished the rough draft with 1500 words. I need to come up with 500 more.

The photo is of some red tulips that I bought for our Christmas celebration. They have been a bright spot on the counter between the kitchen and the dining room.

I am planning to work on my studio and get it in shape to get some work done for looming deadlines. I need to have it neat to take some photos for the book.

So, that is life here in the slow lane, in case you were wondering what I have been doing.
