moresealingof3x3s

That is how I felt today. Cranky. Hungry. Out of sorts. Why? Who knows. Gray skies and rain? Mr C in my studio?

He is finally repairing a hole he made in my studio ceiling back in the day when he and Mark built our new deck. That was almost 2 years ago. I found tools with white wall board dust on some fabric on my cutting table. He didn’t cover my sewing machine with plastic and it got all dusty. This is on the floor and being tracked every where.

I am happy he is getting it done, but it is like my sanctuary and it is being invaded. I stayed on the other side of the room and continued sealing the edges of my 3 x 3s.

My little finished piles are adding up. I only have 3 more months to seal.

Here is my drawing for today – a wrought iron candle stick.

I will be in a better mood tomorrow, I hope.

In Spread Sheet H*ll

printironingtable

My left brain has been taxed for a couple of days. I have been consumed by spreadsheets —spreadsheets from the SDA registration site of workshop attendees, reports of every thing that people have selected to do or purchase, Paypal orders that have to be reconciled with the website spreadsheets. I think I am caught up for a bit.

I didn’t make it to the studio until tonight, but I have a print out of a plan for a quilt I want to do. I took a photo of some of the fabrics, but it didn’t make it to my Dropbox. I am still not able to upload photos to the laptop and I don’t think I will have time to do that for awhile. So the office computer will suffice.

I like to chronicle the clean surfaces in my studio, as it happens so seldom. I washed the old sheets that cover my print and ironing tables, above. I put a new layer of felt on my print table a few weeks ago. It is already getting some color.

Here is my neat and tidy cutting table.

How many sizes of teflon sheets does a fusing fiber artist need? Apparently, many!

And, here are my latest sketches.

Not that happy or excited with these. I was watching Project Runway and a bit distracted. I thought the team concept created a nicer environment. However, I am not sure it will last. Such egos these artists have!!

Redemption

Tuesday, December 4th, 2012

I thought if I confessed to all of you that I am a slob in my studio that it would be an incentive to get organized. It worked. The only way I can do mundane clean-up is to play a game with myself. I set the timer for 20 minutes and do as much as I can. When the buzzer goes off, I get to check in on FB, play with the dog or just relax. Then I set the timer again. Pretty soon, my studio was in pretty good shape,

The print table got a new cover. I just need to staple it.

The cutting table can be used for a cutting table once again.

The thread is put back into the thread caddy.

And, my overflow work table next to the sewing machine is cleaned up once again.

I love getting it together. Now, I need to start on the Sweet 12 x 20.

Coming Clean

Monday, December 3rd, 2012

I wish I was a tidier creative person, but I am not. I make giant messes that get so bad, I can’t continue until I get it cleaned up again. When I am working on 2 or more projects at the same time, it just doubles the detritus covering every surface.

Here is my cutting table – this mess was generated doing 3 x 3’s.

This is my print table which has an accumulation of stuff from fusing that was done on the table next to it plus paints and foil, and who knows what else.

I have another table next to my sewing area that has an accumulation of stuff, too.

And, the little pull out table on my sewing machine cabinet holds all the thread I have been working with for the last month or so.

All this stuff has a place, but I get so into the creativity, that I don’t take the time. I don’t think I can change so this week, I will spend time putting everything away so that I can start anew in an organized space. I made a bit of a dent tonight.

Here are the yellow orange 3 x 3s:

And look at what I have accomplished so far this year.

I have to figure out what to do with all of these, now.

I got some important errands done. Anita, the magazine is on its way to you in Florida. Sue Arnold, a felted nativity is on the way to you.

We have a square boxwood wreath on our front door. Mr C  lined the house with Christmas lights. We might go get a tree if we have a day without pouring rain.

That’s Better!

Sunday, June 10th, 2012

We finished cleaning and purging my studio. Mr. C washed the floors for me tonight. I feel like a big weight has been lifted. I am hoping to have a big revival of creativity.

High Fiber Diet is doing a show with the elements theme — earth, fire, water and air. I already have an earth piece done. I have an idea for air. Fire and water should be no brainers. I do, however, need to get to work.

In case you have forgotten, my Beneath the Surface quilt will be my earth entry. It traveled with Dinner at Eight and then with SAQA. I think it will enjoy another bit of traveling.

PS: If you tried to link to the Janome article, I had a bad link. I fixed it after I was notified. Here it is again, if you are interested.
