I always wait ’til the last minute to do sleeves and lables when I have quilts in a show. So, I have spent the last few days finishing quilts. A while back I posted what was on my design wall. I am happy to say everything is finished!!
These were all started in a class with Sue Benner at Art Quilt Tahoe. This is Zen Forest; I posted it earlier, but I got a better photo without a reflection. It is layers of silk, silk organza and Japanese textiles embellished with paint and stitching.
This is Zen Moons. I cut the shapes from Japanese textiles. They are fused to dupioni silk.
This is a collage of vintage silk textiles – some are Japanese, some are from a Bob Mackey silk shirt that Sue Benner gave me (some of it is in her quilt at Quilt National 05). It also has some sheer fabrics and some stamped fabrics. I call this Vintage Collage I.
A quilt name Cacaphony. This is what was on the design wall.
After quilting it, I decided to do some creative cutting. I t now looks like this:
Color Fuse-ion started out life looking like this. I used scraps from a class with Melody Johnson.
I then cut it in four pieces and rearranged them. I added the swirls to unify the four blocks and I am loving this!
Now it is time to clean up the studio. I have made a huge mess over the past 3 weeks.
