Notice how much the bamboo has grown since last February. Don’t notice the fat lady taking the photo! Oh, look at the cute Maggie tail reflected in the window.

Here is a photo of the pretty hydrangea next to our front entry:

Steph and M & M came over this morning to tell us about their trip to North Carolina. They are all tanned and healthy looking from a few days at the beach. Mark and Jayme arrived tonight. I have fed them and given them the grand tour. Now it is past my bedtime. Ta!

Tropical Tango

Tropicalfishfinale

Tropical Tango (how is that for a name?) is finished except for a label and then it is off to Los Altos to be previewed. Hope they like it. This is the third and I think last of these that I will do.

Here are some close-ups. (Warning to June Underwood – there are lots of beads here!!)

So there you have it. Now I have to get my pages done for the collaborative bird book and send it off to Lisa to finish her pages which she started when she was here. Tomorrow, Steph, Jack and M & M come back to Portland. Then on Thursday, my # 1 son, Mark, is coming in  to town with Jayme for the week-end. Yeah!!

Color

Monday, July 10th, 2006

I’ve been having a beading frenzy and the fish quilt is finished, but I have to wait until tomorrow to take pictures. In the mean time, I am celebrating some color in my day.

My container of sulky threads:

My new dishes that arrived today. We have had the others for 12 years. They were a little more sedate, but in a variety of colors ?¢‚Ǩ‚Äù not Fiestaware ?¢‚Ǩ‚Äù a little more modern design. Anyway, I found these on sale in the Chef’s catalog, and they arrived today. Don’t they just scream Gericon?

Light

To love beauty is to see light. …Victor Hugo

Yesterday the sun came back.

Our new front doors were installed with windows that let light into the otherwise black hole in our entry way:

Sneak Peek

Thursday, July 6th, 2006

I am missing sunshine. After a glorious week of perfect temperatures and sun until 9 pm, it has disappeared for the last two days. I am also missing having Lisa around. If you would like to see some pics she took of her visit with her new Nikon SLR, go here. And now I will be missing M & M and their Mom and Dad, as they left for North Carolina for a week.

So, I will just have to amuse myself and hang out with Mr C. We are still getting stuff done in the house. Tomorrow we are getting a new front door installed. Out entry way is very dark and we have to have a light on all day. So, we are having a door with a full length window and side lights installed. I’ll post before and after photos tomorrow. We went to Kelly Moore, our fave paint store, and got some paint chips, and I was almost hyperventilating at the thought of adding color to the house. It is all safe builder’s beige right now.

When Lisa was here I tagged along with her to a vintage store specializing in 50’s/60’s stuff. I found a Kimball walnut office credenza which I really need for my office. In Santa Rosa, my office and the studio were one in the same, but here I have two separate areas. The IKEA furniture all went in to the studio so I had no place to store office supplies. Yesterday, Mr C and I went back and I haggled and got a $50 price reduction and came home with it. We were very proud of ourselves for getting it home, in the house, down the stairs and in my office. It will also hold my Thermofax and old Canon Personal Copier. Here it is.

Credenza

The wall above it is going to hold my art quilt collection – soon, very soon.

OK, now for the sneak peek. I have been beading off and on for days trying to finish the latest tropical fish quilt for the clients in Los Altos Hills. Here are some close-ups of what I have been doing: (these are clickable to see a larger version)

Got to bead it – bye for now!
