Good Day Monday!

Monday, August 2nd, 2010

It was a beautiful Oregon summer day. I tore out the old lettuce and cilantro which had seen better days. I planted new lettuce and spinach starts. I got myself cleaned up and went to the post office to mail Jane’s book to Brooke in Montana. Then, I picked up my friend Reva and we met up with Beth and Terry at the Oregon College of Arts and Craft for lunch at their wonderful cafe which makes great home style lunch fare. We had hoped to see the exhibit in the gallery, but they were installing a new show today. We had a great time sitting in the sun and talking.

I dropped Reva at home and picked up Mr C and we drove out to our local mall and did some shopping for our trip back east. I found some great deals (40, 50 and 60% off). We stopped at the big box pet store and stocked up on goodies for Scooter to enjoy while we are gone.

I finally made it into the studio tonight and made another black/red study for the Sketchbook Project.

I also started the satin stitching on the aspens. It is boring and tedious, but I turn the tv up nice and loud and stitch away!

It was a great day. Hope you had one, too.

I can’t believe that it is August and that I only have a few days before leaving for a trip back home to New York State. For some reason, I seem to be moving in slow motion. But at least I am not in panic mode. I should be if I am going to meet all my entry deadlines for this fall.

I made this black, red and white study from a paint rag, some painted organza and fused black cotton.

I did get my studio back in order which makes working there more enjoyable. I fused down the aspen trunks and need to get them stitched and add the lutradur leaves. I like their wonkiness.

On Friday M & M came over and spent the night. They are at an age where they tend to entertain themselves. I enjoy having a conversation with them and listening to the two of them banter. They are both intelligent and witty, if I do say so myself!

My lettuce has gone to seed and so I am pulling it out and planting new. I went to the garden shop and bought some lettuce starts so that I don’t have to wait too long. I have become addicted to grabbing fresh lettuce from the garden.
