My daughter, Lisa, can make be cry so easily, but in a good way. She has a way of making me feel valued and loved unconditionally. Today, she wrote a blog post about my cover for Quilting Arts. You can read it here on her blog, Today is Going to be Awesome. If you go to her blog, you can click around on her website and see what an amazing artist she is. She got a few facts wrong. I actually only started art quilting about 11 years ago when I was 64.
We are meeting with the realtor in a bit and then I am heading out to NW Quilt Expo. I have work in 3 special exhibits. If you are in the Portland area, I hope to see you there.
My copy of quilting arts arrived today. The cover is just gorgeous. I am eager to read your article on the construction and inspiration for this beauty. Congratulations.
When I got my copy, I recognized your piece right away and said, “Geri is a cover girl.” Congratulations.
My copy arrived today (I am in the UK). I had read about your quilt and loved it> Great to finally see the magazine cover: the quilt is fast becoming one of my favourites.
Also loved Lisa’s article – very moving, especially for a fellow senior person (though as a mere 66-yr-old I have a way to go yet!
It made me cry, too! A beautiful tribute. Lucky Mom, lucky daughter!
Congratulations, Gerrie! You’ve done a wonderful job of being a mom, grandmother, wife, and artist. And now you; re still excelling at all of those, AND you’re a cover girl! May you always follow your bliss with the same passion, dedication, and joy that you show now, and may you have many more magazine covers ahead! Have fun at Expo and bring a pen for all those autographs!
