I got the call yesterday and I DO have breast cancer again. I have non-invasive ductal carcinoma in situ. I have had this twice before so I know the routine. In the left breast, it was so small, I only had lymph nodes removed and then had radiation – that was 17 years ago. Eleven years ago I had the same diagnosis in the right breast, went in to have a lumpectomy, but the margins were not clear enough so I ended up with a mastectomy. Have to see the surgeon Monday to find out what happens next. I’m pretty sure it will be lumpectomy and radiation. There will not be a quilt titled Radiant Breast.
So I’m just trying to get on with life. I finished my Radiant Sunrise for the auction on Saturday. It is alittle wonky so I have to block it, do a label and a sleeve. Now I have to finish quilting a smaller art quilt that I will post tomorrow. I’m off to work in The Surface Design office processing conference stuff.
Here is Radiant Sunrise:
Gerrie, I’m really sorry to hear about the cancer coming back. I think this quilt you’ve made sums up a good way to deal with it. Let the sunshine shine forth radiantly from your quilts.
Dear Gerrie,
Your Radiant Sunshine quilt is a delight. Thank you so much for sharing it with us via your blog. Your new quilt at t he top of the page with the “plus” signs seems a very positive one. Just what we all need. Thank you.

O Gerrie, I am so sorry to hear that news. Darn. You sound like a trouper, but still it can’t be much fun to contemplate more invasions of the bod.
I love love love that piece you did in my class and show the picture of it to all my classes as one of the big successes.
By the way, Radiant Sunrise is classic. You should make it again with hand dyeds (am I showing my bias?)
Love Melody
