Today I stopped at a nearby quilt store to purchase some batting. I struck up a conversation with a woman who lives in Tahoe and was in Santa Rosa with a friend who works at the store. They are going to PIQF together and she mentioned she was taking Mrs. Mel’s class on Saturday. I said I was taking it on Thursday – bur grad student level. She asked if Melody was a fun teacher – and I assured them that they would have a ball. As I was checking out, they asked for my name to bring me up in the computer. When I said my name, this woman shrieked "You are an internationally known quilter – you are famous!" (I am not kidding!!) Well, it turns out that she had seen Cloth Paper Scissors and my postcard. It was fun!
The Purple Rain Drops failure has been turned into three lovely Purple Rain Postcards. Here they are:
Gerrie,
Those are fabulous postcards! I think this “less than perfect quilt into postcard” idea is fabulous!!
Famous artist that you are…we already knew that but glad the rest of the world is finally in the know. The post cards are way good compared to the original piece…love that de-construction. Where would we be without it?
happy birthday! you and your girls all craft such wonderful things!
The postcards are lovely. Beautiful leaves and a nice shimmer.
I loved your story. What a moment, to realize that you are “famous”…
I am sorry I can’t go to PIQF this year. Hope you get someone to take pictures of you by your quilt…Jen
Gerrie, I finally purchased my copy of CPS and even though I knew you where in it…well one of your postcards, I was still like “wow…Gerrie and Pat both!” bouncing with excitement!!!!!
It was so inspiring to see the both of you there!
Beautiful! I just adore them. You’ve got a series going here. I continue to be entranced by the stripey varigated satin stitch edge. Great job!
not sure if you’re doing a birthday post or not but happy birthday! loved reading lisa’s blog entry today…
Gerrie,
These postcards are lovely! I’m glad you a finally receiving due recognition for your star power.
Gerrie,
They are very lovely…good work
not so bad–cool to turn “failures” into new works of art. HAPPY BIRTHDAY!!!
