Construction Zone

I just spent a couple of hours unquilting the new piece. I started quilting it this afternoon and then hated it. Fortunately, the Misty Fuse took the unsewing better than WonderUnder.

Here is the final composition, some of the outer edges will be trimmed back after it is quilted.

Here is the thread audition and the winner:

This is the third piece I have done with the uneven edges. I did the pillow case finish on the other tow, but it requires some extra work to make the corners come out right so this time, I am going to do a facing.

We had weird weather today. It was quite warm when we went for a walk. So warm, that I took off my jacket and tied it around my waist. Last night I was so darn cold, I had to throw a quilt over the down comforter. I guess I am losing my insulation. Anyway, back to the weather, a tornado touched down across the state line in Vancouver, WA and caused quite a bit of havoc. We were under a sever thunderstorm alert for a while. The local TV stations covered it from 12:30 until the regular news came on tonight. You can tell that we don’t get wild weather that often here in the NW.

Gerrie, this piece is gorgeous. That green just pops it!

Gosh that thread is perfectamundo! My current quilt has uneven edges too — I’m thinking of a fused binding.

I just love these colors Gerrie. So beautiful and I’m really liking the out-of-the-box dimensions. Un-even edges are very interesting.
I think your weather came our way-we are having summer thunderstorms & lightening in January-very weird.

oh no, no ones’s safe. See the weather is weird everywhere! Sorry you had to uppick your quilt (I think that’s what people told me it was called when I was doing that last fall!) Love your thread and fabric — keep going!

picking up on Kristin’s comment…I, too, was wondering how to quilt the main focal block…it has some mystery too it.

I’m going to tuck away that info that Misty Fuse unsews better than WU. When I’ve finally used up my 10 meters of WU, then maybe I’ll switch to Misty Fuse.

I like the subtle horizontal movement of the blues. I’m curious to see what you do with the quilting since I have absolutely no clue what I’d do if it were my quilt. The fabrics are wonderful and perfect pick-me-ups in the middle of weird winter weather. 🙂
