Coming Up for Air

It is taking me so  much longer than I wanted or expected to organize and purge my studio. I keep finding interesting stuff, lost stuff, forgotten stuff ?¢‚Ǩ‚Äù and then I get distracted and am beginning to feel as if I will never get done. Mr. C is going to get some boxes tomorrow so that we can pack up some stuff and just get it out of the way for now.

Here is a picture of my four line compositions together, as requested by some of you. However, I have not come up with anything as interesting as Kristin did.

Quatrocomposition

Five Fancy Fish Frolic is going traveling. It was juried into a fiber/quilt show in San Jose at Synopsis which will benefit the San Jose Museum of Quilts and Textiles.

One of the things I found is this drawing that I did of Lisa’s beloved Megan a couple of years ago in a class with Lura Schwarz Smith. It is done on muslin using Tsukiniko inks. I think I might have to finish this off somehow for Lisa to have as a keepsake. Megan was a very pale  yellow lab so the muslin is a good representation of her coat color.

Going to bed because tomorrow, I have to finish this mess I’m in.

Your drawing of Megan is fabulous! You definitely need to finish that off for Lisa. Good luck with the ongoing cleaning…Will you come to my house next?

  5. well Gerrie, when you and mr.c are done organizing your stuff, will you come help me please? nah. i didn’t think so.
here’s a response to your two newly posted images anyway:
if you put those black line drawings together and focus on how the *negative* spaces come together.. WOW.
your drawing of Megan needs to be framed and given. It’s a keeper.

  6. Yes! You should absolutely finish off Megan. What a nice tribute to a dear friend. My in-laws all cried when I gave the “Abby” quilt to the sister closest to her (she was my father-in-law’s constant companion and was dearly missed when she died about a year ago). She hangs proudly in my SIL’s room where she can be treasured. (Right now she’s at “Road to California, but she’ll be home at the end of the month.) I imagine Lisa would also treasure a reminder of her companion.

Love the fish quilt. (The fabric that you used as “jelly fish” I have seen as flowers – treated very similarly…..)

Good luck with the “clean Sweep” I need to have one – an abandoned UFO has gone missing now that I want to scavenge its pieces….
