It is the morning of election day, 2008. The TV has been all about the election for days, and it is going non-stop, today. I have to think that there would not be this level of excitement if it were not that we are poised to elect the first black president of this country.
I voted a long time ago. In Oregon, we vote by mail. But, I must admit that this morning, I would love to stand in line with kindred spirits and cast my vote in public.
For all of you who have endured my political rants over the past few years and my undying affection for Obama, I thank you.
This video brought tears to my eyes when it first came out and again this morning. It is a reminder of what we have been working towards. Enjoy and VOTE!
And YES I WILL do my part to keep the promises alive.
YES, WE DID!!!
yes we can…
Shoot, I had my iPod with 4 books on it and I didn’t have to wait at all! In Grand Rapids one precinct has had waits of 2-3 hours due to so many FIRST TIME VOTERS!!!!!! Thankfully the weather has been beautiful with record high temps. The Obama Bunch went out and brought bottled water and food to those standing in line.
I also have my knitting warmed up and am ready to stay up late to watch the returns!!!!!
YES, WE CAN!!!!!!!!!!!!
Hugs,

I’d stand in line with you. We vote by mail also and it just takes away from the experience. I also wonder about young children missing out on the opportunity to watch their parents vote. I remember going with my parents, going behind the curtain and looking at this board that had all these levers and switches. Everyone was solemn in line and in the voting booth and you could sense the tension ease after the big lever was pulled to lock in their votes. I miss that, via mail feels so anticlimatic. Have a great day (really!) I have my knitting ready to sit and watch the returns. Cheers.
