Stash (Second Tuesday at Somebody’s House) took the train to Seattle on Friday to attend the APNQ Quiltfest at the Seattle Center. Here Terry and Gale in the back and Beth and Terri in the front settled in for the trip. Terry Grant is already at work on a mola! We later moved to another spot where we could sit facing each other and enjoyed wine and snacks.
Here we are crossing the Columbia into Washington:
The train arrived an hour late so we went out for dinner at a Mediterranean restaurant and I got this photo of the Space Needle at night on the way back to the hotel:
Here is the Space Needle from our hotel window:
I only got a glimpse of all that Seattle has to offer and I really want to go back so I think Mr C and I will spend our anniversary there next month.
The quilt show was pretty good. I will say that I did not get my socks knocked off by the contemporary quilts. Overall, I think the quality of the traditional quilts was much better. We ran into these fellow bloggers, Nikki and Melissa:
I’ll share some of my favorite quilts over the next few days. I think my faves were of this style:
Closeup of this gives a better idea of the construction.
OK, I am very tired and I must get my beauty sleep. I’ll post more tomorrow.
Wow….great quilts and what fun, riding the train to Seattle!!
While I like 3, 5 and 6 they are too “Nancy Crow” and they look like they were done in a workshop/class. 1, 7 & 8 I really like and they don’t remind me of anyone in particular (ie- don’t look like class pieces). The quilting (what I can see of it) looks good too. #2 is too dull for my taste- I would like it better rotated 90 degrees as it would look like mountains.
Glad you had fun….

Those quilts are making me crazy- especially #7! I want to learn to do that! (I’ll probably never learn to do THAT, exactly, but WOW!) Thank you so much for sharing! It sounds like you all had fun.
I really like quilts three and five esp. five. That color palette makes me homesick for the southwest but in all the right, inspiring ways! I always love the style of your little travelogues and the image of fabriholic friends enjoying wine and snacks on the train.
I really loved the 7th one down!
That last one is pretty darn cool.
they’re wonderful and I especially like the second one and the last. It’s fun being with the “girls” for an outing. Sounds like you all had a great time.
I really like the transparencies on the last one. I can’t wait for more of this virtual quilt show!
