I’m feeling sort of melancholy. My brother’s wife, Carolyn, died this morning. She had a 2 year battle against cancer. We were not that close. You know how when the male person in a family, be it brother or son, gets married, they tend to spend more time with the wife’s family. Anyway, I struggled this morning about whether to fly to New York state for the funeral. Then, I called my brother, and that sealed the deal. He seemed to really want me to come. Family matters.
I fly out on Wednesday and return on Sunday. So I am bustling around trying to get a bunch of stuff done and in the mail, bills paid and food in the house for Mr. C.
This past week-end, M & M spent the night and then went to church with us on Sunday morning. We had a good time. Here are some gratuitous cute pictures of Miles, Mia and Maggie. Because, family matters.
So sorry to hear about your sister-in-law, Gerrie. You’re a good sister to go and be with your brother.
Cute pictures of M & M & M. Yes, family matters!!
Have a safe trip.

Oh, Gerrie, I’m sorry about your sister-in-law. I’m sure you’ll be a big support for your brother.
I am so sorry about your sister-in-law. Safe travels.
So sorry for your loss. Have a safe trip. May the natural beauty of New York State in the autumn be a source of peace and comfort to you all.
Be safe, have a good trip. My thoughts are with you.
I’m so sorry to hear about your loss. You have made some big changes in the last year to put family first! I hope you have a meaningful trip.
I’m so sorry, Gerrie. Hope your trip provides comfort and strength to both you and your brother.
I’m so sorry for your loss, even though you weren’t close, it’s still family. And you’re very right, it matters alot. Isn’t it a shame that it often takes a funeral to bring a family together?
I’m so sorry. Seems like the older we get the more important it is to keep those remaining family connections close. It will be a sad trip, but you’ll be glad you are there for your brother.
I’m so sorry for your loss, Gerrie. I know your brother will be so comforted to have you near by. Good thoughts go with you from all your blog buddies.
I will be thinking of you and your family and praying that you have strength and find peace.
You are right, family is the most important thing. Jen
Dear Gerrie,
I am so sorry for your loss. You are so right, family matters. You are so wise to recognize and practice that concept frequently. Wishing you a safe trip and a big hug.
Sincerely,
Jeannie
Oh those kids are just too cute.
Re: male family….I KNEW there was something wrong here. We have lived for 23 years where Mike wants to live. MY family has always taken short shrift…..no more. The farm is on the market. Anyone want 17o rolling acres with woods, ponds, and some GREAT building sites in an EXCELLENT school district?? Developers welcome!!
Try to get some enjoyment out of the trip east. My friend’s memorial was so upbeat that, while I will always miss Bill and his advice, I know he is happy where he is.
