I was going to write a deep thought blog post about how I feel that after a year of wallowing, I feel as if a fog is lifting from my life. Then, I noticed that my last post was number 1500. That number was mind boggling to me.
To celebrate, I will give the 12 x 12 quilt up there to someone who leaves me a comment. It is one of the four quilts that I did for the eggplant challenge. They were subtitled, a la Albers. This photo is not a good representation of the true colors which are very rich. It is silk and quilted with silk thread.
I am happy to say that I am feeling lighter and happier and more in control of my life. I can’t say that there is anything specific and it has probably been gradual. I hope that I can now begin to do work again that satisfies me and is worthy of my time and energy. This year has been a struggle for me. Thank goodness for the Twelve by Twelve challenges. They have kept me moving along and given me a sense of accomplishment when needed. And certainly, the Houston experience was a huge boost to our whole group.
I have been quilting Gwen’s sunshine quilt. Here it is sandwiched and ready to go.
I haven’t done much preparation for Christmas. We went out to the nursery yesterday and bought this pretty wreath made from rose hips.
I think we will get a tree at the end of this week. We are hosting a party for one of the priests from Trinity. She is retiring this month. Steve is on the commission that worked with her, and so they are having a special retirement party for her. It will be an incentive to get the house looking Christmassy. (Is that a word?)
I hope you will leave me a comment. I will do the drawing on Wednesday.
1500 is Wow! I would love to win your quilt. I really liked your auction quilt you did for SAQA this year, too. But I was too late on the bidding on that.
From the “outside” it seems like you have been doing just fine this year. There will always be ebbs and flows.
1500 is quite an accomplishment! I’m glad you feel you are moving in a good direction again. I’m looking forward to many more posts about your journey.
What a treat it would be to win a tiny quilt done by you. I would be so happy!
Oh, Gerrie, I know all about difficult years and coming out of the fog. Recovery is indeed gradual, you often don’t realize you’re there, nor how it happened, but that doesn’t matter. You’re not where you were, but in a better place, and there’s still an even better place to reach. I’m glad you’re on your way.
Wow! I so look forward to your posts…you inspire me to get out of my “fog”, and I love your work. Sorry I missed Houston. Looking forward to the next 1500!
You’re 10 times more productive in a bad year than most of us are any year! Keep creating. It’s one of the things that will pull you through the rough spots. It’s a pleasure knowing you and reading about your adventures. Bonnie
I’ve enjoyed reading your blog posts and seeing your work. I had no idea you were feeling challenged. Yours is one of the blogs I check daily. “You” — at least the you shared on your blog — is an integral part of what inspires me.
Thanks for keeping on!
Sandy
I will be with you for the next 1500…everyday!! I love your daily reporting! You are often the reason I get back to my sewing machine!! Here’s to 2012! Mb
Gerrie,
Your blog is so inspiring to me! I hope you will find peace in the new year. I knew you were having certain problems from your blog but did not know of the challenges for the year. You have given so much inspiration to others–please continue!!
Marion
1500! Extraordinary, indeed. Good for you. AND the fog clearing, that is inspiring…as is your blog. So here’s to the next 1500.
Yippee for fogs lifting away!!!!! Wishing you tons of creative fun in 2012!
Congratulations on 1500! I always enjoy reading your blog. Thanks for always providing an inspiring place to visit!
Gerrie, I have noticed that you seem much happier recently and you have certainly ‘ripped’ though some serious computer programming issues for the Arts Committee recently. Way to go!
Good for you! I am approaching 600, and I can’t imagine 1500 – way to go! And…I would love some of your work!
I love and appreciate your blog. Keep on blogging.
1500 posts! A huge commitment of time, and energy when taken as a whole. What you do daily matters and adds up. Thank you for sharing your highs, lows, and everything in between, most of all your creative journey.
Congratulations and what a generous giveaway !
I’m visiting here nearly daily and enjoy your posts and process on quilts .
Life is a process, with ebbs and flows. All we can do is ride it out. Glad you’re feeling on top of your life once again. You continue to inspire. Love the rose hip wreath AND that subtle but beautiful silk quilt.
Congratulations! 1500 is quite an achievement, and feeling better about things is an even better one. I love how you show readers your process.
I know about the fog – it started to lift for me in September. Glad you are experiencing the same thing. I am happy that you kept posting throughout. It must have been difficult at times but was probably a little bit of a life ring as well.
Hi Gerrie, it certainly didn’t look like you were wallowing during the year! Your 12×12 quilts were inspirational & I eagerly awaited each reveal date – being in NZ I had to wait that extra day due to the time differences! Love your 12×12 Book and hope that you will all produce one for your colour-play challenge as I thought that was just as good as your theme challenge! We had the pleasure of seeing the theme challenge last year (or the year before??), so you, along with your fellow 12’s, inspired us to start our own group! Thank you so much!
Congratulations Gerrie! Keep on posting, your blog and your work is such an inspiration.
Oh Gerrie, I think I should be sending you something to celebrate your 1500th. You continue to inspire and amaze me. You are an extraordinary woman. Thank you.
